...a very short
piece about soundtracks
|
Background music for movies was originally
played in order to disguise the noise from early projectors. Since then
it has become an important part of a movie - sometimes the music lasts,
but the movie fades into oblivion.
It isn't available online, but in
the October 1998 issue of
Songwriter's Monthly there is an article
about Marius De Vries and "The Avengers" soundtrack.
It describes what happens when a
composer writes music for a movie:- he may have only two weeks to work
on it. The director can cut bits out. There has to be enough public interest
for a soundtrack CD release. Coordinating different artists from different
labels (the producer is responsible for this) is far from easy. On the
other hand, it says that a "solid soundtrack...can become a lasting piece
of culture."

etc:-
