Stephen Dunne (Simon Bossell) first met Melissa Morrison (Saffron Burrows) ten years ago at a party, but his twin brother Rick (Aden Young) approached her first. Stephen becomes a workaholic, Rick ends up managing the Hotel de Love after Melissa stands him up at the altar. Their parents visit the Hotel de Love on their anniversary. Melissa turns up too, with her current boyfriend.

In
Love With It All (Tim Finn/Neil
Finn) - Tim Finn - album version
About 10 minutes into the movie there is a shot looking down on a record player with a copy of "Escapade" playing. Briefly Tim is visible on the label on the LP. The start of "A Minor Key" plays as Melissa joins Rick on the bed. The scene ends soon after that...
Ronnie Grey (Alan Hopgood) plays a few bars of "I Hope I Never" (piano only, no words) in the hotel bar about halfway through the movie. He is the hotel owner and also a cabaret performer. Melissa's boyfriend, Norman Carey (Peter O'Brien), is seated next to him talking to Ronnie as he plays, and although Ronnie says nothing, he obviously wishes Norman would just go away.
"In Love With It All" is used outside a church, after a wedding, near the end of the movie.

Notes in lyric booklet include comments about the music:-
"As would be expected, the soundtrack to Hotel de Love is equally as kitschy as the movie. The character of Ronnie Grey, Hotel de Love's enigmatic owner and cabaret performer, is periodically seen singing love songs at his piano in the hotel lobby. His version of "Love Will Keep Us Together" appears on the soundtrack, as does the performance of "Sway" by the Hotel de Love Wedding Band. Also on the soundtrack is KC & The Sunshine Band's hit "Get Down Tonight", "Blue Moon Revisited" by the Cowboy Junkies, and one of Olivia Newton John's early hits "I Honestly Love You". Rounding out the soundtrack are songs by Little River Band, Grass Roots, 10cc, Tim Finn, Split Enz and Air Supply."
