Notes |
From the press kit (at The Ferryman (New Zealand Film Commission)
"Matthew Metcalfe [Producer]: Ok, people watching The Ferryman will probably notice the late seventies and early eighties classic NZ rock throughout was a very deliberate choice in the film. We wanted of course to culturally centre the film in NZ, to let people know this is a NZ story, it's about some people from NZ who take a boat trip with some others from around the world, out into the South Pacific which is our backyard. And along the way, music becomes a device to show us fear and to distort the world around us. We wanted to use music in a way to sort of turn matters on their head, using music that’s normally associated with a good time, contrasting it with violence, depravity and evil to really show that even in amongst what was supposed to be a really good, happy time, was actually descending into this sheer terror."
Filmed around Auckland, including Waiheke Island.
W.Stevens is "Bones" Hillman.
